Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!

Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! If you didn't know, our owner Marie, makes some of the best chocolate chip cookies. To celebrate, we are finally sharing Marie's famous chocolate chip cookie recipe!

You'll need:

A mixer, large bowl, whisk, baking sheet, ice cream scoop.

Shortening

Brown Sugar

Vanilla

Eggs

Water

All-purpose flour or 1-to-1 gluten free flour

Salt

Baking soda

Your favorite chocolate chips

Chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

Set out two eggs (we always use room temperature eggs to bake!) If you forget to take them out in advance, put them in a bowl of lukewarm to warm water while you prepare the other ingredients.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients below:

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or a 1-to-1 gluten-free flour!)

2 TSP salt

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

Set bowl aside

In a mixer, mix together the ingredients below:

1 1/2 cups shortening (we like butter flavor Crisco)

2 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 TSP vanilla

2 TBSP water

Mix together until fluffy!

Add 2 eggs and mix slowly for about 30 seconds to one minute.

Leaving the mixer on a slow setting, gradually add in the bowl of dry ingredients.

Once fully added, set the mixer on a medium setting and slowly pour in 2 (or more) cups of chocolate chips and about 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts if you'd like!

Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop dough onto a baking sheet so they are evenly spaced.

(pro tip: leave the scoop in warm water before and in between scoops so no dough is left behind)

Bake 9-11 minutes depending on size until edges are slightly browning.

Take out of oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving!

Enjoy!

To bake in style, this week we are giving away a complimentary apron or oven mitt from Batsheva's Laura Ashley Collection with all orders over $150. (while supplies last)
